History

csemete ovodaAs a result of our many planning and prayers thanks to God, on the 15th of September 1997 the kindergarten was set on foot. At the beginning we started with a single group with 14 children. The first experience justified and encouraged the dreamers of the kindergarten: On the first day, at 8 o’clock 14 children met, unknown to each other, in the company of two unknown kindergarten-teachers, and at noon, when the parents came after their babies, the children did not want to go home. At that time Mrs. Leszai dr. Emoke Csernatoni and Chris Van Zanen were the kindergarten-teachers.

In the Great Commission of Jesus in Matthew 28:19-20 is written: ”Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit; teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you.” The children belong to the disciples too. The children of our town are baptized, but there are so few parents having time, or being capable properly to carry out this commission.

In this way the Hungarian-English Reformed “Csemete” Kindergarten was established. Till 2007 that belonged to the Transylvanian Reformed Church. Today is managed by the Csemete Foundation. In the first year the kindergarten-activity started in a house rented by an American Reformed minister. In the meantime we began the restoration of the old house inherited from our parents to find make a suitable place for the children. During one year the building facing the street was restored with big openings for windows to offer required light for the children. The great amount of work was done by my wife; engaged both in educating our four children and controlling the restorations, since I myself was abroad to prepare my doctoral dissertation.

In autumn 1998 the children could continue playing, learning, praying in a reconstructed house - Paris Street No. 13. We’ve gradually got the necessary furniture, objects, and in the same time we transformed our pot-garden into playground. We are always acting on principle that the children deserve the best things and the best environment. In the past regime we missed a lot of things, but by the grace of God, we are living in another era and we are capable of offering them much better conditions.

Therefore a lot of parents are ready to enrol their children in the Reformed kindergarten, in order to let the children know about the love of Jesus.
